“I usually put a drop of Purification® essential oil blend on a cotton square and place it at the bottom of each trash can in the house and at the bottom of my daughter’s diaper pail. It cuts back on odors and kills germs.”
—Maryellen Slott
Tip—Fresh Bedding
“Every time I change the linens on my bed, I spray Thieves® Spray generously and evenly on the mattress and the pillows. I feel that this leaves the bedding fresh smelling and free of those tiny things we can’t see. Sometimes I will also give the sheets and pillows a quick spray when making the bed. This keeps my sleeping area fresh between changing. I just love the smell of Thieves Spray!”
—Pam
Tip—Stuck Gum
“I found a chunk of gum stuck to our hall shag carpet. It had been there for several months, dried but thoroughly stuck to the fibers. I dabbed Thieves® Household Cleaner on a cotton ball, then rubbed it on the gum and let it sit for a minute. The gum literally just lifted off the carpet. You can rub your fingers across the treated spot. There is no way to tell there ever was any gum there!”
—Kristen Grunewald
Tip—Bath Drain
“Our bath drainage unit would not stay in the open drain position and couldn’t be replaced. We used a number or chemical and mechanical options with no result. Finally I dropped a few drops of lemon essential oil on the problem area, waited a few moments, and came back. Result: The bath now drains freely once again!”
—Suz
Sweet Gift
"I’ve had the great pleasure of using essential oils in yoga classes, both as teacher and student. They make me feel like I’m receiving a sweet, intriguing gift. The aroma helps to center my mind and transports me into a sacred space, while the specific properties of the oils help to relax, inspire or energize me. I notice how the room becomes more unified, more uplifted, more present, after I share the oils.”
—Ingrid A. Marcroft
Life Force
"Using Young Living essential oils in class is almost always a transformative experience in that they have a fantastic capacity to shift the space. There is a palpable change in the energy of the room, a softening or sometimes an expansion of everyone’s life force—depending on the oil used. I’m partial to Valor® or Peace & Calming® at the end of the class or Valor, peppermint or frankincense at the beginning. The Thieves® spray is perfect for sanitizing and cleaning the air between classes."
—Stephan W. Kolbert
Tip—Double Duty
“Spray lemongrass essential oil on your children’s bed linens to keep those spiders that have hidden indoors for the winter away from their sheets. Children like the fragrance, and it gives them an aromatherapy treatment.”
—Penelope Marth
Tip—Peaceful Sleep
“After my daughter’s evening bath, I take a good-sized squirt of KidScents® Lotion with a couple drops of Peace & Calming® and rub it all over her body. She smells so good and sleeps peacefully through the night.”
“I dislike the chemicals in the shower sprays available in most stores. But it’s Thieves® Household Cleaner to the rescue! I now dilute Thieves cleaner (according to the glass cleaner recommendation) in a spray bottle and confidently saturate my wet shower with the solution without holding my breath and racing out of the bathroom after spraying. It really works!”

How to Avoid Toxic Metals and Clear Them from the Body
What’s wrong when people follow Dr. Weston A. Price’s dietary principles but still suffer from significant health problems? Why do so many people try to eat good fats but find they cannot digest them? What is the reason for digestive distress and dysbiosis despite taking high-quality probiotics and consuming cultured foods and broth? Why are some babies sickly even when the parents eat a nourishing diet prior to conception and throughout pregnancy and lactation?
The answer may be toxic metals. Though we may honor our bodily temples with nourishing foods, we cannot realize our full health potential so long as we remain waste dumps for mercury, aluminum, cadmium, arsenic, lead and nickel. Even the “precious metals” gold, silver and platinum can create problems. Mix well with a dose of chloride and fluoride found abundantly in municipal water supplies and it’s no wonder that so many of us are sick and tired.
Health practitioners over the past few decades have also begun seeing more and people “glowing in the dark” because of nuclear waste and weapons. The use of so-called “depleted uranium” weapons in armed conflicts is suspected of contributing to the “Gulf War Syndrome,” an array of health problems associated with the Gulf War as well as the ongoing Iraqi war and other conflicts.
Although the mental and physical problems from metal toxicity have escalated in recent years, our very language tacitly acknowledges the historic toxicity of certain metals: “Mad as a hatter” from the Civil- War-era’s crazed use of mercury sizing in hat manufacture, “gold fever” from the murderous greed of early prospectors, “lead poisoning” as black humor for “getting shot,” and, more recently, “get-the-lead-out” exhortations from trainers who would have us exercise long and hard in order to sweat out toxins and melt excess fat.
The medical establishment currently recognizes only acute metal toxicity, the type that leads to painful, sudden and severe symptoms, including cramping, nausea, vomiting, sweating, headaches, breathing difficulties, convulsions, and impaired cognitive, motor and language skills. With acute metal toxicity, the effect of consumption, inhalation, skin contact and other exposure is clear. Acute toxicities occur most often on job sites when workers are exposed to hazardous substances, though accidents occur on the home front too. Pesticide, herbicide and chemical fertilizer spills at homes and schools, for example, are some of the common reasons why previously healthy people join the ranks of the chemically sensitive and environmentally ill.
In 1986 Congress established the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR) of the Department of Health and Human Services in order to deal with effects of hazardous environmental substances on human health. In cooperation with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the ATSDR compiles priority lists of hazardous substances each year. Out of 275 substances on the 2007 list, arsenic is number one, lead two, mercury three and cadmium seven.1 Of these fearful four, mercury is the most studied, but all four have similar adverse effects on the body.
Chronic Exposure
Victims of acute metal toxicity make the six o’clock news, but far more people suffer adverse effects from low-level, chronic exposure to multiple metals. Because the symptoms may develop over a period of many years and are often interchangeable with other signs of poor health, sufferers rarely recognize slowly accumulating mercury and other metals as the culprits. Thus, although nearly everyone on the planet carries some toxic load, not everyone shows obvious and distinguishing ill effects. After all, fatigue, digestive distress, aching joints and depression, to name just a few everyday complaints, are considered “normal” in our increasingly sick and aging society. Almost all chronically sick patients, regardless of their specific symptoms or diagnoses, have sustained significant exposure to toxic metals. Mercury toxicity should be assumed in anyone who has—or has had—amalgam fillings or root canals and who also chews.2 Aluminum, cadmium, lead, cobalt and arsenic and other metals are rarely absent from such patients.3
Dose, duration, manner of exposure, biochemical individuality, genetic propensity, diet quality and stress levels combine to determine the degree of ill effects. Good nutrition is key because a deficiency of vital metals will lead to their replacement by toxic metals in enzyme binding sites. Lead will replace calcium, for example, cadmium will replace zinc, and aluminum and nickel will replace magnesium and manganese. These substitutions will allow a certain degree of vital enzyme function, but in time lead to physiological dysfunction.4,5
Sadly, it no longer takes decades or even years to become toxic. Babies are born toxic because mercury and other metals pass through the placenta from toxic mothers. The Environmental Working Group reports that blood samples taken from the umbilical blood of newborns show an average of 287 toxins including mercury, fire retardants, pesticides and Teflon chemicals. This is a primary reason why babies come into this world with compromised digestive and immune systems. The National Academy of Sciences (NAS) estimates that over 60,000 US children are born each year at risk for life-long problems because of dangerous blood levels of mercury in their mothers.6
Vaccinations containing mercury and aluminum then add to the burden, often sending an already vulnerable child over the edge into autism, ADD/ADHD, life-threatening allergies and autoimmune diseases. Thimerosal has mostly been removed from children’s vaccines. However, old batches are still given to children, if not in the US then abroad. As for new batches, even the FDA admits that they may contain trace amounts.7,8
The Weston A. Price Foundation has educated parents about how to optimize their nutrition prior to conception. But unless parents also detoxify themselves of toxic metals before conception, this trend will not reverse, and we will continue to see the degeneration of our children’s health.
A Litany of Adverse Effects
Evidence that toxic metals cause, contribute to or accelerate the development of chronic illness is widely available in the scientific literature. Metal toxicity adds to oxidative stress, inhibits antioxidant production and utilization, blocks enzyme functions and poisons sulfur biochemistry, adversely affecting the function of every cell, tissue, organ and system in the body. It would be wrong to blame the epidemics of fatigue, depression, anxiety, food and drug addictions, insulin resistance, diabetes, learning disabilities, allergies, asthma, digestive distress, adrenal gland exhaustion, hormonal imbalances, memory loss and other all-too-familiar health problems solely on metal toxicity but metals certainly can play a major role in these conditions.9
Although symptoms of poisoning by the various metals commonly overlap, different metals tend to favor different sites. Mercury and cadmium accumulate heavily in kidneys, but cadmium doesn’t cross the blood brain barrier the way mercury does. Cadmium overload is associated more with peripheral neuropathy than central nervous system problems. Lead deposits primarily in bone, and it disrupts erythropoiesis, the formation of red blood cells, contributing to poor bone health, osteopenia and osteoporosis.10-12
The litany of adverse effects from exposure to mercury, lead, cadmium and arsenic is a long one. It includes physical, muscular and neurological degeneration. Toxic heavy metals can cause, contribute to or accelerate the development of Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, muscular dystrophy, multiple sclerosis, and other brain and neurological disorders.13
Toxic metals also contribute to the plague of female reproductive system problems such as menstrual difficulties, infertility, miscarriage, pre-eclampsia, pregnancy-induced hypertension and premature births. Toxic metals have also been linked to increased breast cancer risk. A recent study out of Georgetown University showed that the metals mercury, copper, cobalt, nickel, lead, tin, chromium and vanadate activated estrogen receptor alpha sites in human breast cell cancer lines in ways similarly to the human estrogen estradiol. The metals also altered gene expression, perturbed hormonal balance and accelerated the proliferation of the breast cancer cells.14
Mercury and other toxic metals further contribute to cancer development and growth by preventing the biosynthesis and functioning of vitalethine, an endogenous regulator of key metabolic pathways necessary for a “vital” immune system. Adequate natural vitalethine controls immune responses, probably to all types of cancer and to infectious agents like AIDS. Evidence is accumulating that vitalethine is also crucial for proper cholesterol metabolism, red blood cell production and diabetes prevention.15 For our bodies to make natural vitalethine, we need the sulfur-containing amino acid, L-cysteine, along with the vitamin pantothenic acid.16 However, if high-quality, usable protein and cysteine become deficient because of poor diet or poisoning by metals, our bodies will try to compensate by making cysteine from the essential amino acid, methionine through the toxic intermediate homocysteine. Problematic metal toxins in the body may bind and interfere with the conversion of homocysteine, trapping it so that it accumulates metabolically.17-19

Richard Bartlett’s Matrix Energetics workshops have become tremendously popular—not just because the experience is a cross between a healing seminar and a rock concert, but because what he teaches changes peoples’ lives in ways they never thought possible. What started for Richard Bartlett as a series of treatments in his chiropractic practice has evolved into a “technology of consciousness” for opening the doors of possibility. Here he talks to us about Matrix Energetics and what makes it so unique.
Sounds True: You call Matrix Energetics a “technology of consciousness.” What does that mean?
Richard Bartlett: One of the challenges in teaching Matrix Energetics is you don’t want to over-define it. You don’t want to pigeonhole it as a technique or a method of problem-solving, because that imposes limitations. Matrix Energetics is about expanding our perceptual model. Each person has a set point, like a thermostat, for what they’re willing to believe, what they’re willing to experience in the next moment, and what they can actually sense in the world.
With Matrix Energetics, you acknowledge that every model has limitations. Then you realize that you don’t have to play by those limitations—and the key word is “play.” Once you do that, you embrace the idea that change can be instantaneous, and you don’t have to worry about how that change going to show up. All this is to invite the power of grace. Grace is that limitless potential for something to happen, literally, miracles to happen. The miracles happen in between the spaces of conscious awareness.
Sounds True: What do you mean by the “spaces between?”
Richard Bartlett: Our left-brain consciousness puts things together like frames in a movie, processing snapshots of experience in a way that appears to be one continuous activity. It works at a speed of maybe one to twelve experiences per second. The brain takes each snapshot, then filters it through our conceptual model, and strings it together into something that gives an illusion of continuous activity.
Once you realize that, you can say, “In the space between my perceptions, anything can happen.” If that’s just a statement in your head it won’t do much, but if you drop down—as we say in Matrix Energetics—into your heart, that’s the place where intent can work. It can happen in an instant. And if you transcend the limitations of your conceptual model just one time, that can be enough to change everything in your life.
Sounds True: When you talk about the place where intent can work, do you mean “focused intention,” as it’s usually talked about?
Richard Bartlett: Not really. When people do practices based on “the power of intention,” they tend to get stuck in the conscious mind. The trouble with focused intent is it’s still based upon what we think can happen. You’re supposed to visualize what you want to happen, which is about imposing an outcome on the universe. That’s a left-brain, rational method and it usually doesn’t work.
Sounds True: So would you say the rational mind is an obstacle in Matrix Energetics?
Richard Bartlett: I don’t see it that way. Look, I have two medical degrees—I’m a huge believer in rationality! The rational mind is your friend. All you need to do is go beyond the idea that you can define reality with just your rational, conscious mind. Because it’s much too limited. For that we need the limitless processing power of the right brain, or the unconscious.
There’s something Sri Aurobindo, the great Indian saint, said: “There are no physical laws in the universe. They’re more like suggestions.” What he means is that they’re hypnotic suggestions that our unconscious mind believes. Matrix Energetics helps you let go of the rigidity of those rules to be more flexible, and yet still retain those rules as appropriate for your reality.
One of the obstacles people hit working with Matrix Energetics is just the idea that something could be so graceful, so easy, and so without judgment. We don’t believe things can be that simple. One tactic you use to get past this block is to overload the left brain with information. You feed the left brain all of this scientific data it can handle. It’s all true material, and the left brain thinks it understands it, but nobody really does. Not even the physicists. So as your left brain tries to chew on that, it gets out of the way of your right brain. And it helps if you do it in a playful way.
Sounds True: Could you give me an example?
Richard Bartlett: Sure. Let’s look at this idea. Quantum physics is getting to the point where they’re saying consciousness must be added to any working model of reality. Everything has a quantum field, or what Rupert Sheldrake called a “morphic field” or identity. It’s almost like a blueprint. These morphic fields are like floating clouds of energy, of thought forms, that just wait for someone to have a thought, a feeling, or an intent. Our thoughts polarize the quantum field like a magnet, with the larger field actually diffusing into your own the smaller field.
So here’s where you start to play with that concept. Think of it like the scene in Ghostbusters, when Dan Akroyd chooses the Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man. He thought it was a pretty benign choice, but then it turns into this great monstrosity. Our thoughts are like that. They’re like these sticky, Stay-Puft Marshmallow Men attempting to destroy the city, and what we have to do is develop different kinds of cities, different kinds of powers, where we learn to trust the innate divinity within us.
You have to realize the universe is completely unreal, just like the yogis talked about. You can’t just hold that as a thought. You have to become self-realized in that knowledge, and that doesn’t require effort. That requires letting go, because the more you try to grasp something like that, the more tangled up you’re going to be in your own thoughts.
The more you practice in a playful manner, a way that really gets you out of the left-brain trap, the more you create this awareness and this morphic field of instantaneous transformation. You don’t have to believe it. You just start out by playing with it, and then, at some point, you realize it’s playing with you.
Sounds True: You talk a lot about not the role of silliness and play. Are they useful in and of themselves?
Richard Bartlett: It’s interesting about play. You can redefine “play” to mean anything. If you are driving down the road, and you are fully engaged and enjoying your car, that can be engaged in play. Even if you’re stuck in traffic, you can choose to be stressed out, or you can choose to be happy. It’s that attitude.
It’s not play if you’re saying, “Well, I’m going to play for five minutes because it’s good for my blood pressure.” I’m sorry. You’re not playing; you’re doing therapy. Play is when you completely forget yourself, forget time, forget space, forget that you’re even human, and you’re just occupied with a moment, and you could call it “bliss.” The ancient yogis appeared to be very serious, but they had this kind of twinkle to their eyes, and they had this little smile, kind of like, “I know a joke, which is the universe isn’t real, and it’s just playing with us, and I’m playing back!”
Sounds True: There are lots of other healing techniques out there, and you say you don’t want Matrix Energetics limited to that. What’s the difference between a technique and what you’re calling “a technology of consciousness”?
Richard Bartlett: A technique is developed to meet the needs of a certain problem. But Einstein said that problems can’t be solved at the same level of consciousness that created them. That means you have to transcend your existing conceptual model to really get to the creative potential, or what has been called “the quantum potential,” the hidden awareness in the universe. The way you do this is you let go, you stop seeing yourself as separate, and you play like you mean it. You play like a child, where you’re practically hallucinating.
One of the things that I insist upon in Matrix Energetics is that it has observable, reproducible phenomenon that can be easily learned and then duplicated by anyone, because if it’s only I that could do it, then maybe you’d have to say, “Oh, I’m some fantastic healer.” I’m not the best model for a healer. I do everything wrong. I eat bacon for breakfast, I drink coffee, I don’t smoke because I just can’t stand it, but I mean I probably would if it were just because it’s a vice. I have every vice imaginable, and I can even develop some devices to improve my vices. It’s not about any of that, because if it were, then it would be so limited, no one would be able to approach it, because they’d have to either be holy, or meditating for 20 years, or mastering qi or prana or all of these things.
You can learn that stuff. I even have techniques in Matrix Energetics, like two-pointing and using the 21 Fundamental Frequencies. You can learn techniques or practices exactly right and get them down pat, but unless you get into the playful state that lets you set aside the conceptual limits of time and space, your techniques won’t do much. They’ll never transcend what you think is possible.
Sounds True: One last question. Why do people fall down on stage during your seminars when you use the two-point method on them?
Richard Bartlett: The falling down thing is just one aspect of a larger phenomenon we see a lot when people first experience Matrix Energetics. I think it happens because of the sudden understanding that we’re just composed of light, just photons and patterns of information. When we interact with each other on that basis, I think we change the actual spin or velocity of the photons. At that moment the left brain can no longer track reality as being real, the right brain takes over. You expand out. The conscious mind cannot keep up, and people tend to react by falling down. Or they go into bliss, or unconsciousness, or silliness, or laughter, or see colors, or hallucinate a frog on the floor next to them, or any number of things. They can experience joy. They can cry. They can literally experience transcendence.
I had a banker who I two-pointed. When I touched him, nothing appeared to happen. Someone asked me out in the audience, “Well, why didn’t he fall down?”
I said, “I don’t know! Let’s ask him!” And I said, “What happened? It didn’t look like much happened when I touched you.”
And he looked at me, he was still having trouble talking, and he said, “When you touched me, my whole body disappeared, I experienced the void, I was out in outer space in a transcendent phenomena that I still cannot describe.”
I said, “Okay, thanks for sharing that!”
I’ve seen astonishing things happen to people when they make room for miracles to show up. I’ve seen spontaneous healings—like broken feet getting healed in an instant. These things break our conceptual guidelines, but you realize they’re perfectly natural and normal when you see laws of the universe are more like suggestions.
If we expect miracles, we are more likely to experience them, but that doesn’t mean your life should be predicated on the need for a miracle. When you need a miracle, or you need to be healed, or you need something to happen, your own expectations of what will happen if it doesn’t are in the way. When you let go of the need for something to happen or not happen, that’s where grace resides. And anything’s possible there.

On the Ellen show, Sheryl Crow said that this is what caused her breast cancer.
It has been identified as the most common cause of the high levels of dioxin in breast cancer tissue..
Sheryl Crow’s oncologist told her:women should not drink bottled water or anything in plastic that has been left in a car.
The heat reacts with the chemicals in the plastic of the bottle which releases dioxin into the water. Dioxin is a toxin increasingly found in breast cancer tissue.
So please be careful and do not drink bottled water that has been left in a car.
Pass this on to all the women in your life. This information is the kind we need to know that just might save us!
Use a stainless steel canteen or a glass bottle instead of plastic!
LET EVERYONE WHO HAS A WIFE / GIRLFRIEND / DAUGHTER KNOW PLEASE!
This information is also being circulated at Walter Reed Army Medical Center …
No plastic containers in microwaves.
No plastic water bottles in freezers.
No plastic wrap in microwaves.
Dioxin chemical causes cancer, especially breast cancer.
Dioxins are highly poisonous to cells in our bodies.
Don’t freeze plasticbottles with water in themas this releases dioxins from the plastic.
Recently the Wellness Program Manager at Castle Hospital , was on a TV program to explain this health hazard.
He talked about dioxins and how bad they are for us.He said that we should not be heating food in the microwave using plastic containers…..
This especially applies to foods that contain fat.
He said that the combination of fat, high heat and plastic releases dioxininto thefood.
Instead, he recommends using glass, such as Pyrex or ceramiccontainers for heating food… You get the same result, but without the dioxin..
So, such things as TV dinners, instant soups, etc.,should be removed from their containers and heated in something else.
Paper isn’t bad but you don’t know what is in the paper. It’s safer to use tempered glass, such as Pyrex, etc.
He reminded us that a while ago some of the fast food restaurants moved awayfrom the styrene foam containers to paper. The dioxin problem is one of the reasons….
Also, he pointed out that plastic wrap, such as Cling film, is just as dangerous whenplaced over foods to be cooked in the microwave.
As the food is nuked, the highheatcauses poisonous toxins to actually melt out of the plastic wrap and drip into the food.
Cover food with a paper towel instead.
