ABUNDANCE TESTIMONIALS:
“I have been suffering from severe depression for over 10 years. The depression started when my mom died. I was in denial about my depression, but in the last several years, I’ve noticed that it had gotten worse. I had found Young Living through a co-worker about 2 years ago. I didn’t realize then that these were more than ‘good smelling oils’. They actually have a purpose. The oils have healing properties, which I have recently discovered.
Over a month ago, I went to see a psychiatrist. She diagnosed me with clinical depression. She then begin to write out a script for meds. I told her I didn’t want drugs. She looked at me puzzled and said, ‘well, why did you come to me then?’ I said, ‘for a cure of my depression, not a cover up’. After that visit, I realized that I would have to live like this and just deal with it. Then I received an email from my upline’s upline. The title of the email was ‘Depression’. I must have read it several times.
I immediately purchased several oils. They were ‘Joy’, ‘Abundance’, ‘RutaVaLa’, ‘Valor’ and ‘Mineral Essence’. I applied all of the oils on my feet as well as around my neck and pulse points. I then took the Mineral Essence orally, 5 droppers twice a day for a week and then 1-2 droppers twice a day for the next week. I continued this until the depression was gone. It took 2 weeks for my depression to fully dissipate. I continue to use my oils daily and won’t live without them now!” L.T.

“I just have to share. While setting up for a Women’s Expo this past weekend in Casper, WY to share our Young Living Products, my fall allergies were continuing to cripple me. There is nothing worse than promoting health in a sad state of wellness.
We set up the Zyto to use in our booth, and I decided to give it a try to aid the teaching process. I came up 44 out of bounds, meaning my body was in dire need. Forts of those values were brought back into range by Abundance. We all just looked at each other.
The desk reference enlightened us with the respiratory values of Abundance. I raced to the lounge and filled a capsule with Abundance, and felt total relief from my condition in a few minutes. I have continued to take capsules of Abundance since returning home, enjoying a never before instant relief from these dreadful fall allergies.
Another use for another of our great Young Living Oils.” C.M.

“I have a spray bottle of water and Abundance mixed together that is placed on top of my dryer. The washer and dryer are closed up in a closet, so I use the oil to refresh the closed in laundry smell.
I use the oils in all our closets to keep our coats smelling fresh…our linens ready to use. Wonder.” D.H.

“My Chihuahua is l ½ years old. Recently I had company over to eat dinner. They went against my wishes and fed her table scraps. She is small and really does not need to have any additional food supplemented to her diet. Well, the company went home and she began having loose stools and a gurgling stomach. I has just received my first bottle of Abundance and figured I would sprinkle a bit on her. She is a cuddle bug and loves to bury herself in the blankets. She was 100% better within minutes. She curled up and went to sleep the whole night. Woke up in the morning and had a normal stool. One more success story for my life experience. These oils have been in my life for over 5 years and will continue to be………….”J.S.

I have enjoyed generative health each time I use my YL essential oils. It is like having the wholeness and goodness from the entire plant in each drop. My body loves these oils. This is an article about one of the best YL kits they offer. I have come to appreciate these kits for their financial value as well as the wisdom of oils selected. A Really wonderful way to start using the oils. Tessa Brauer YL#48482
The following are the oils in the
“Golden Touch 1 Kit”.
Di-Gize – massage or place a compress on the stomach. Apply to bottom of feet. Take a capsule full once or twice per day –a must if traveling, especially abroad (has great parasitic action). Great for stomach ailments, digestion issues, constipation, heartburn, IBS, diarrhea, and food poisoning. All the oils in Di-Gize are also anti-septic and can be used on cuts and other minor injuries. Debra
These oils in this blend are to assist in relieving digestive problems. Massage a drop or two on the outer ear may help alleviate morning sickness. It may also be great to dispel parasites in animals. Apply to their feet or one drop on their back or massage on tummy placing a compress on the tummy may chase the parasites away that animals may have. My cats and dogs get this regular. You can tell when they have parasites because their coat get dull looking and the hair curls on the end and in two days you will see the hair starting to look shiny and the curling going away. I even use it on my horses for parasites and colic. So I am never without this blend as it is a household item of every day use. Nancy Sanderson
Thieves – Diffuse for 15-30 minutes every 3-4 hours when someone in the house is sick. Apply to the bottom of the feet twice per day. Apply diluted to throat, stomach, abdomen, chest, and over thymus gland. Put 4-8 drops on a cotton ball and place over A/C vent and vehicle vents. Adding a drop or two on a Thieves soft lozenge may stop the pains of food poisoning in a hurry. AND NEVER leave home without Thieves. It can save you much misery if you or a family member starts to feel sick while on vacation. Pulls splinters also. Debra
This blend of therapeutic-grade essential oils was tested at Weber State University for its potent anti-microbial properties. It was found to have 99.96% kill rate against airborne bacteria. The oils are highly anti-viral, anti-septic, anti-bacterial, anti-infectious and helps to protect the body against such illnesses as flu, colds, sinusitis, bronchitis, pneumonia, sore throats, cuts, and infections. I have applied Thieves around an infected wound and the infection cleared up in a day. My husband had an abscessed tooth which caused the infection to go into the bone. In order to be able to get the Thieves into the bone, we applied Thieves on the gum and then wintergreen on top of the Thieves to drive the Thieves into the bone to clear up the infection, which it did. I have taken two capsules of Thieves 3 times a day to get rid of a bad bronchial infection that I felt coming on and that did the job over night. Nancy Sanderson
R.C. – Diffuse, humidify or direct inhale. Apply to chest, throat, under ears or over sinus area. May use as a hot compress on chest. Also great for bunions and bone spurs. Great for allergies, –apply to base of neck each morning and evening. Smell for asthma. Debra
I have taken 3-4 drops of R.C. in 1/2 cup of hot water, hot enough so it doesn’t burn the finger and place the cup close to the nose and mouth and cover head with a towel and inhale the moisture and aroma and it will pull a person out of an asthma attack 9-0. Also when applying R.C. to the chest and the ball of the foot which is the reflex points for the lungs and you want to increase that oxygen, apply marjoram on top of the R.C.. This drive the R.C. into the smooth muscle of the lungs. By doing this it helped a gentlemen re-inflate his collapsed lung. Another gentleman had to wear oxygen to keep his oxygen level up at 94, but with out oxygen, it would drop down to 77. 94 is the normal oxygen level a person should be at. When I applied R.C. to his chest it brought his oxygen level up to 94 in matter of minutes and stayed there, before that it was down to 77 because he was not wear his oxygen . I like to see things first hand and this was an experiment that I did when I taught a classes and a nurse had her portable oxygen monitor with her. Everyone wanted to know what their oxygen level was and I was curious if it would raise the oxygen level of those that had normal oxygen level and it did. It raised those that were at 94 to 96 and those at 96 to 98. Also I have used R.C. along with Idaho Balsam Fir to dissolve a huge bone spur on my heel. Why Idaho Balsam Fir?? Because it has a natural cortisone-like action which doctors give to their patients before they will do surgery on the spur. That was the only way I could get it to dissolve. R.C. alone was not enough for me but a lot of people have had great success with just R.C. on bone spurs I have to be different. R.C. may help give relief from colds, bronchitis, sore throats, sinusitis and respiratory congestion. Nancy Sanderson
Raven – Diffuse or humidify. Add 2-4 drops to bathwater. Apply to throat and lung areas and to the bottom of the feet. Use with a hot compress over lung area. Contains Ravensara – a powerful anti-viral oil, known as the oil that heals to the people of Madagascar. Summer mosquitoes can carry the West Nile virus, plus who knows what else. Wear daily on the bottom of the feet. Great for allergies – apply to base of neck each morning and evening. Debra
Be very careful if you use a hot compress with Raven as it has blistered people with delicate skin because it contains hot oils. My mom did a hot compress of Raven on the back, close to the neck and she had huge blisters from it. That’s why I caution you if you are thinking about using it with a hot compress. A great way to use Raven is apply Raven on the back and R.C. on the chest using a hot compress with R.C. only, and then the next time apply Raven on the chest and R.C. on the back with a hot compress only. Raven and R.C. are great companions together. The combination of Raven gives strength in fighting respiratory problems such as pneumonia, tuberculosis, bronchitis, asthma and infectious mononucleosis and rhinopharyngitis. Nancy Sanderson
Melrose – Diffuse or place a tissue with a few drops of Melrose directly in front of humidifier –but do not put drops of this oil in the humidifier water. You may also put a few drops in a bowl of hot water and cover your head with a towel, making a tent over the bowl so you inhale the steam. Also great for urinary incontinence – apply over bladder. Apply under ear and down throat for earaches and phlegm in throat. Also good for skin rashes. (Dr. T. Friedman helped a woman get rid of a three year long staphylococcus rash with Melrose and lavender). Apply under ears for airplane ear popping and aches. Debra
This blend has anti-septic-like properties when used topically for cleansing cuts, scrapes, burns, rashes, and bruised tissue. It may help also prevent growth of bacteria, fungus, or infection. Melrose is very strong in the regeneration of damaged tissue and helps fight infections and fungus. It is very beneficial for animals such as horses, dogs and cats in the same way it benefits humans. I have used Melrose for ear and eye infections on cats and dogs. Just make sure that you don’t get it in the eye so apply to finger and rub your fingers together and then rub around the eye. That way your finger is not to wet with oil and have the chance of it leaching back into the eye. By doing this the infection had cleared up over night. I have used it on infected wounds on my horses too. Now with the Animal Scents Ointment it is a great combination for your animals. Plus I have used Melrose for ear infection on my grandchildren and infected cuts, and vaginal yeast infection for myself. I use 8 drops Melrose, 8 drops lavender, and 8 drops of frankincense to make the application stronger in two cups of water and douche. Another problem that I had was an eye infection that I got from my grandkids. I used the juice from an AloeVera plant squeezing it into my eye and lavender around the eye. It would clear up and then a month later come back again. It felt like I had an eyelash or a large piece of dirt in my eye causing it to hurt like the dickens and be very red at times. This pladged me off and on for eight months. It wasn’t until that I was in Ecuador that it had came back again and I didn’t have time to be bothered with it. So I took 1 drop of lavender in 1 tsp of olive oil and mixed. Then with one drop from that I put it into my eye. It stung a bit, but wasn’t that bad. My eye felt better but was not clearing up then I remembered that I used Melrose on my kittens eyes and the infection went away. So I applied Melrose around the eye. That worked thank goodness. But it came back again in a month. So I was getting very tired of this and I decided to add 1 drop of Melrose with 1 drop of lavender in a tsp of olive oil and then added one drop of that mixture in my eye. Well that did the trick. The infection has not returned since Nov 2005. When something is like that, you have to get aggressive to get rid of it and that’s what I did. Nancy Sanderson
JuvaFlex – Rub several drops over liver area or on the bottom of the feet. May also be used as a hot compress over the liver. **The liver is your toxin filter, keeping it clean, great for summer time hazards like over indulging in the wrong foods. Debra
These oils in this blend have been known to support the liver and lymphatic system in detoxification as well. Anger and hate are stored in the liver, creating toxicity and leading to sickness and disease. JuvaFlex may help break addictions to substances such as coffee, alcohol, drugs, and tobacco. Nancy Sanderson
EndoFlex – Diffuse or directly inhale. Add 2 drops to a bath to relax. May also apply to thyroid, adrenals, kidneys, liver or bottom of feet. Also, may help with hot flashes, three drops under tongue daily. May help to increase metabolism. Good over adrenal glands for high paced vacations and fun to not feel worn out. Debra
This blend may help overall vitality. It contains oils associated with hormonal balance, improving and balancing metabolism, and weight control. I have used it by applying it over the kidneys and bladder for infection and have had great relief for that problem. To get a great effect from EndoFlex for possible weight control apply to the gums and over the thyroid. Nancy Sanderson.
Note: To make a hot compress, –take a wash cloth and run under hot water, wring out excess water, apply oil to chest, cover with warm, wet wash cloth and then cover with folded bath towel to keep in heat. Debra
Also, if you wish you can use a bowl filled with hot water and add 5-8 drops of oil to it, then lay the cloth over the water and oils and let soak up into the cloth, wring out and apply to location of where you want the hot compress. Make sure the water is hot enough, but not to hot that it burns your fingers. Then follow what Debra stated. Too hot will fracture the molecules of the oils. Nancy Sanderson

| Story at-a-glance |
- Juicing is a simple way to reach your daily target for vegetables, and allows you to add a wider variety of vegetables to your diet that you might not normally enjoy eating whole.
- Health benefits for juicing include increased absorption of nutrients, and improved detoxification and fat loss.
- Ideally, you’ll want to consume a minimum of 16 ounces of juice a day. Strive for a full quart, split between the morning and the afternoon.
- Peel from oranges and grape fruits should never be juiced as they contain toxic oils. Organic lime peel is safe to use.

Juicing is a powerful tool that can accelerate your progress towards optimal health. Virtually every health authority, even conventional doctors, recommend 6-8 servings of vegetables and fruits per day but very few of us actually get that.
In my life I have found that juicing is a simple and easy way to virtually guarantee that you will reach your daily target for vegetables. I typically juice every day and consume from a pint to a quart of green juice daily.
Juicing also helps you absorb all those wonderful nutrients from the vegetables. This is important because most of us have impaired digestion as a result of making less-than-optimal food choices over many years. Juicing will help to "pre-digest" the veggies, so you receive most of the nutrition rather than having it go down the toilet.
Another benefit of juicing is that it allows you to add a wider variety of vegetables to your diet that you might not normally enjoy eating whole.
How Much Juice Should You Consume?
Cherie recommends a minimum of 16 ounces of juice a day. Ideally, you’ll want to strive for a full quart of juice, split up between the morning and the afternoon.
My personal recommendation is to juice it all at once, to save time, then store it properly and drink it throughout the day.
Cherie says she’s got her juicing routine down to 10 minutes, but then again, she’s an expert. Pour your juice into a FoodSaver, or a glass Mason or Ball jar filled to the top so there is no oxygen, and put it in the fridge immediately. FoodSaver has an attachment for the jars that will vacuum seal it for you and suck out most of the oxygen. You’re probably going to retain well over 90 percent of the nutritional value if you do it in that way and consume it within 12 to 24 hours
What To Do with the Pulp?
Many are concerned about wasting the pulp and throwing it away. Well that can easily be solved by composting it into your vegetable or ornamental garden. However, an even better solution would be to eat it.
From a nutritional perspective it is far more useful to eat the whole vegetable as the fibers actually serve as a prebiotic and raw fuel for your good bacteria to grow, and as a weed killer that actually helps to eradicate harmful organisms like yeast and pathogenic bacteria.
You are probably thinking "how disgusting," and "why would I ever want to do that?"
Well if you dress up the pulp with some Himalayan salt and other condiments that you may enjoy, like balsamic vinegar and crushed red peppers, it becomes far more palatable. What I have recently figured out though is if I put a few lightly poached eggs over the pulp with some melted fresh raw organic butter, it really is turns it into a delicious meal.
The butter and eggs provide fat and protein that actually balance out the meal. I used to feel hungry after juicing but since I started eating the pulp with poached eggs I feel very full and satisfied.
Some might ask why I don’t just use a powerful mixer like a Vita Mixer and have less mess to clean up and prepare it quicker. Well there are several problems doing it this way as the speed of the Vita Mixer is too high and can actually damage some of the nutrients in the vegetables. More importantly is it is MUCH less palatable as it becomes a thick, virtually undrinkable slurry rather than a tasty meal and refreshing thin juice you can drink right down.
One of my newer developments is to take the pulp and put it in a dehydrator at 104 degrees for 6-12 hours, until it is dry and make vegetable pulp crisps. I put Himalayan salt and other seasonings on it like crushed red pepper, and I use it as a bread substitute, particularly for the four raw organic pastured chicken egg yolks I have almost every morning. The texture really makes it a very palatable breakfast. I also use one avocado and some red onions.
Juice According to Your Nutritional Type
Although vegetables are generally "healthful," it’s still important to take your nutritional type into account when juicing, both in terms of the amount you consume, and the types of vegetables and add-ins you use.
According to Nutritional Typing principles, if you are a carb type, then vegetable juicing is highly recommended to help you regain your health. Juicing is also beneficial for mixed types.
Protein types, however, need to be a bit more cautious though and follow some specific guidelines to reap optimal results.
Celery, cucumber, spinach, asparagus, string beans and cauliflower are the best options for protein types because they’re lower in potassium.
You can also add some dark leafy greens like collards, kale, and dandelion greens, but do so cautiously and pay careful attention to how you feel, because these vegetables are very high in potassium and can cause biochemical imbalances in protein types.
Additionally, to make the juice compatible with protein type metabolism (which also needs higher amounts of fat), it is important to blend in some type of raw fat, such as raw cream, raw butter, raw eggs, avocado, coconut butter, or freshly ground organic flax or hemp seeds.
Healing Through Juicing—The Juice Lady’s Story
Cherie Calbom earned her nickname "The Juice Lady" back in 1991, when she worked for the Juiceman company. But she’s been passionate about juicing far longer.
"[Y]ears ago, I had chronic fatigue syndrome; fibromyalgia in my late 20s; hypoglycemia; allergies; candidiasis—a long list of problems and no hope to get well," Cherie says.
"I decided I was going to find a way; there had to be a way to get well. So I started going to health food stores and reading. I found an old Norman Walker book… I got my first juicer and I embarked on this five day vegetable juice cleanse, and continued that through three months of juicing. I changed my diet completely.
One morning, I woke up and thought somebody gave me a new body in the middle of the night. It was like WOW! I felt completely healed."
However, it bears mentioning that it wasn’t an entirely smooth ride.
"Along the way, I felt worse before I felt better. No one had talked about the detox reactions. My dad kept saying, "I think you’re killing yourself with this juice program."…I was definitely detoxing."
In Cherie’s case, it took three months before she suddenly felt completely renewed.
Interestingly, three months is also the average lifespan of red blood cells. So in three months you should have renewed most all of your red blood cells. In Cherie’s experience, this is the typical time frame for most people before they see any dramatic improvement in their health.
The Healing Power of Wheatgrass
Although many don’t fancy the taste of wheatgrass, it’s a potent healing and detoxing ingredient. You’ll need a masticating juicer in order to use it however, as it’ll just shoot out of a centrifugal juicer.
Cherie buys flats of wheatgrass from her local co-op, but you can also order them from Whole Foods. Most local food stores only sell it in small containers, which you might get 2 oz. from, if you’re lucky. If you buy a flat of it, you’ll have enough to last you several days. To keep it fresh, place it in front of a window and spray some water on it daily.
"It’s so good!" Cherie says. "It’s a grass. It’s like a sprout. It’s new life; loaded with chlorophyll and all of these wonderful vitamins, minerals, enzymes, biophotons and some amino acids. It’s just powerful.
… They say that the chlorophyll molecule in there is similar to our hemoglobin molecule."
… I’ve consulted at a center that uses wheatgrass juice for people who go through this program… I’ve seen amazing things happen for people drinking 5 oz. of wheatgrass juice a day: 2.5 oz. in the morning and 2.5 oz in the afternoon. Try it. That’s all I can say. Just give it a try."
It is really bitter though, so you may want to add a small amount of lime or liquid stevia to improve the flavor. Limes are great as they are virtually fructose free.
Detoxing—An Important Part of Optimal Health
Juicing is one way to detox your system and is in fact one of the reasons why some people start juicing in the first place. Wheatgrass is particularly helpful in this respect. It provides nutrients that accelerate and facilitate detoxification, especially in your liver where most of your body’s detox occurs.
However, about 100-times more of the toxins are stored in your fat than in your blood. And although juicing may help you shed excess fat, which would reduce toxic stores, it will not in and of itself draw it out of your fat. More aggressive intervention is required for that.
I recently encountered a surgical oncologist who has a great detox program. He uses high dose niacin to cause lipolysis (breakdown of fat), in conjunction with exercise to raise your core body temperature. Then you spend 40 minutes in an infrared sauna. Doing this process daily for a month causes your body to excrete stored toxins from your fat.
However, this is not a detox cure to dabble with at home.
First of all, 20 to 25 percent of people cannot tolerate niacin. It causes massive flushing. Second, although it’s a vitamin, at the doses required for detox, it’s treated as a drug. He starts his patients out at about 100 mg and progresses all the way up to 5,000 mg, which is a massive dose. You’ll be beet red from the niacin flush! So it has to be used with extreme caution and only under a physician’s care.
Detoxing with Juicing
Juicing, however, is also a powerful way to lose body fat, and because the juice contains high amounts of antioxidants it can help bind toxins when they get released.
"You are going to be losing fat and when those fat cells are breaking down and all those toxins are getting released, you need a lot of antioxidants to get them out of your system and render them harmless. That’s where juicing is just powerful," Cherie explains.
"The beta carotene and other carotenes are wonderful for the liver and a wonderful part of detox. I’ve worked with a lot of people on various cleansing programs that I’ve designed and juicing is a big part of that along with nutrients and herbs to help the liver detox. I wouldn’t be without it.
I don’t like just a straight water fast… When I did an internship with a nutritional medical doctor, he had some people coming in that had done just straight water fast and had gotten into major problems because of it.
So I think it’s very important to have hearty vegetable juices for cleansing or detoxing your body. People that do, even though you get symptoms (the Herxheimer reaction they call it), seem to do a whole lot better when they’ve got the fresh vegetable juices than when they don’t."
What about Fasting?.jpg)
Personally, I’ve been opposed to fasting. It works well for some people, but I believe it’s not entirely suitable for strong protein types like myself, simply because we need high amounts of protein. Obviously, if you’re doing a juice fast you’re getting some protein but it’s a rather minimal amount. My concern is that it might cause you to lose muscle as well as fat. Intermittent fasting can be used on occasion.
My concerns may be unwarranted however.
According to Cherie, short fasts, lasting no more than two or three days do not appear to have any impact on muscles. Juice fasts lasting longer than a week however, may lead to muscle loss.
"I’m a protein type and I did a five-day fast that one time to kind of kick off my program. It’s wonderful to give your system a rest where your body is not having to work to break down all of this stuff that we eat… It can then really begin to work on detox, on repair, on rejuvenation. I’ve done one about every year for three days and I always add in wheatgrass."
When doing a juice fast, Cherie recommends consuming between one to two quarts of juice a day. Also remember to break your fast with very light foods, such as cold raw soup and maybe a dehydrated cracker.
"There are a lot of people who like to take one day a week to give their system a rest. A nice way to do that is to do an all liquid breakfast, lunch and dinner, so you don’t feel so deprived. You’ve slept through most of it and yet, you’ve given your system a real rest and a chance to do some cleansing. Then just have a really healthy dinner the next night,"Cherie recommends.
Cherie’s Vegetable Recommendations
With respect to specific vegetable recommendations, here’s Cherie’s top picks:
- Dark greens, such as collard greens, Swiss chard and kale
- Ginger root, for its anti-inflammatory properties
- Lemons, which are high in vitamin C and bioflavanoids. If organic you can also juice the rind
- Celery
- Cucumbers (leave the skin on if organic)
- Parsley, which is rich in vitamin C, bioflavanoids, iron, minerals and chlorophyll
- Beet greens (the beets are good for your liver, but they’re high in sugar, so use them very sparingly)
- Organic carrots (avoid conventionally grown carrots as they tend to be highly contaminated with pesticides). Use carrots sparingly, however, as they’re very high in sugar. Avoid them if you have candida, hypoglycemia, insulin resistance, diabetes, or cancer.
She also saves broccoli stems, the bottoms of cauliflower, and the stems from fresh asparagus and juices those. It’s a great way to reduce waste.
Special Concerns and Warnings
Please note you should never juice the peel from oranges or grape fruits as they contain toxic oils.
Limes do not contain these oils and are safe to juice. Only juice organic lime rinds however, to avoid contaminating your juice.
Additionally, you’ll want to rotate the vegetables you use, as consuming the same vegetables every day for an extended period of time can cause you to develop sensitivities or allergies. So switch things up regularly and try different recipes.

Tip—Fresh Carpet
“I used an old plastic sippy cup with a small hole in the lid to make a carpet freshener. I mix baking soda and a few drops of an essential oil, usually lavender because it’s my favorite, then I sprinkle it around the carpet and let it sit for a minute or two and then vacuum it right up. My carpet is fresh, the room smells great, and the best part about it is that I’m not exposing my two young kids to any harsh chemicals.”

This article is informative. The link below will lead you back to Kathy’s site. En~joy. Tessa
PS I took Kathy’s TQI class this fall. Learned some. Agreed with most.
I teach that a good quality olive oil should be the main oil in the kitchen. In nearly every class I am then asked what oil to use instead of olive oil in “high heat cooking” with many mistakenly believing that they should not sauté their food in olive oil. This happens because there is quite a lot of confusion about what “high heat cooking” is. I recently came across a list of “The Top Ten Best Cooking Oils” commented on by a dietician and a chef and decided to use this list as a springboard for my own evaluation of cooking oils. (Remember: The order and choices are theirs, not mine.)

Nutritional Supplementation….
www.Self-HealthEssentials.com
Robert Brauer, MBA, NTP
It is a myth that we get all the vitamins, minerals, trace elements, enzymes, antioxidants, amino acids, fatty acids, and other unknown factors needed on a daily basis in our diets. Our foods lose essential nutrients at every step of the process from their growth to our dining tables. It starts with the nutrient-depleted soils in which the crops are grown, then the loss accelerates during food shipping, processing, storage, and finally, cooking.
Even if we ate a balanced diet, our food has less nutrition to begin with because it is raised using synthetic chemicals, and then it is stored and processed to within an inch of its life. Literally!
So supplementing our diet with vitamins and mineral is a good idea. It is a good way to makeup nutrients missing in the soil and to makeup for lost nutrients in the processing and handling of our food. And, it is a good way to pay back the nutritional debt that most of us have acquired from a deficient diet and stressful lifestyle.
Once we decide that taking some form of vitamin and mineral supplement is a good idea; we face another problem and that is what form of supplement to take. First, you should know that not all supplements are created equal. We have been led to believe that our bodies do not know the difference between vitamins synthesized in a laboratory and vitamins that occur naturally in fruits and vegetables. This simply is not true.
You will find three types of vitamins sold today: first, natural whole food supplements, second, fractionated vitamins, and third, synthetic vitamins.
Whole food supplements come from whole foods and the foods they come from are usually printed on the label. They are obtained by taking a vitamin-rich plant, removing the water and fiber in a cold vacuum process, free of chemicals, and then packaged for stability. Temperatures above 112 degrees start to destroy the enzymes that are important to the vital life force of food and the supplements made from it.
Fractionated vitamins start with whole food but the food is processed under high heat, solvents and chemical distillation processes. These processes destroy almost all of the enzymes, antioxidants, trace elements and other factors that are needed for your body to use these vitamins. These processes actually can cause vitamin deficiencies even though that is why we take them, to alleviate vitamin deficiencies. Companies that make fractionated vitamins claim that their products come from whole foods, which is true, but as you now know most of the nutrients in the food have been destroyed in the processing.
Synthetic vitamins are created in a chemist’s lab. They take chemicals and duplicate the molecular structure of a nutrient found in nature. There are some problems with this process. First, a single nutrient is not the whole vitamin complex from which it was derived. For example, synthetic vitamin C is usually labeled as ascorbic acid and most people consider this to be the real vitamin C found in whole foods, but this is not so. The isolated nutrient, in this case, ascorbic acid, is not the vitamin C complex that is found in nature. The vitamin C complex in nature contains, in addition to ascorbic acid: rutin, bioflavonoids, Factor K, Factor J, factor P, tyrosinase, ascorbinogen, and other nutrients; some known and some unknown, synergistically packaged in a way that is readily recognized by our bodies.
This is not the case with synthetic vitamins. In fact scientific studies have shown that naturally occurring nutrients have a right-hand spin at a molecular level whereas synthetic vitamins have a left-hand spin. Try as they may chemists have not found a way to duplicate nature in this regard. Quite simply, our bodies do not recognize synthetic vitamins and treats them as toxins. Your body naturally tries to eliminate toxins but it takes nutrients and energy to do this. So, by taking large doses of a part of the vitamin C complex, like ascorbic acid, instead of making up for lost nutrients, the body expends more energy to rid the body of a substance that was intended to help it.
The human body cannot use a synthetic vitamin as it can natural vitamin complexes, which easily find their way into cells and tissues of the body. Instead, a synthetic vitamin has a drug-like effect in the body, it masks or covers over symptoms, but does not alleviate a nutritional need.
Please beware that the vitamin industry is dominated by six pharmaceutical companies that produce about 97% of all materials for the synthetic vitamins we find on store shelves. These vitamins are made from coal tars and use artificial colorings, preservatives, coating materials, and other additives.
Whole food supplements from food sources that are properly prepared preserve the vital “lifeforce” of the original food that synthetic vitamins cannot duplicate. This lifeforce is the synergy of nature, and synthetic vitamins lack this capacity.
Concluding remarks:
Living things can be produced only from living things, never from non-living matter. Chemically pure, refined, fractionated, and synthetic vitamins are dead, inert materials, non-perishable, and devoid of enzymes. Natural foods contain live vitamins, organic minerals, enzymes, and other vital, functional, alive, components, all organized by the sun, water, and living soil. Whole food supplements preserve this natural organization and are therefore the only vitamin supplement that truly supports and revitalizes the body.
