A short story about hormones…

 Recently I found myself in conversation with a dear friend. As I listened to her story I quickly recalled all the previous layers to her experience with Bio-identical hormone therapy. I recalled the many doctor visits to successfully gauge the exact amount of hormones that might best match her body’s systems as she entered her sixth decade. I recalled my curiosity as to the success of this venture, accessing my personal experience of how intricate the human body’s hormone system is as well as all the billions of chemical transactions that take place. She was recalling her latest visit with her doctor who had found cancer in one of her breasts and how they were forced to reduce the estrogen in her Bio-identical formulation. With this latest conversation I also recalled my gratitude for a belief that I have held for as long as I can remember.
